Sirmione is a city in the Italian region of Lombardy, in the province of Brescia. It occupies the peninsula, which extends from the south to Lake Garda on the border between Lombardy and Veneto (Verona province). Already in the time of the Roman Republic there was a resort. Sirmione’s heart is Corso Vittorio Emanuele Street and Carducci Square, which are pedestrianized. Here there is a mass of souvenir shops, shops, craft workshops and cafes. Noteworthy is the church of San Pietro in Mavino, built by the Lombards and then rebuilt in the 14th century.
