During Milan Fashion Week, use a private driver for airport transfers, luggage and journeys where several people need to arrive together. For short trips between appointments, walking or the metro can be more practical: a car still has to deal with traffic and find a suitable drop-off point. Build the day around exact addresses and realistic gaps, rather than assuming every invitation fits into one continuous route.

Plan the day by entrance, not just venue

Put each appointment into a shared itinerary with its address, entrance, contact person and required arrival time. A venue name alone is not enough for a useful pickup instruction. Keep the invitation accessible so you can check the entrance before leaving the previous appointment.

Group nearby appointments where your schedule allows. If a fitting and a presentation are within walking distance, keep them together rather than inserting a hotel stop between them. Leave room for a late finish and for the walk from the car to the entrance. Treat any travel estimate as time on the road, not the full time needed to reach your seat.

Choose transport for each leg

A private car is most useful when it solves a specific problem: airport luggage, garment bags, several passengers or a journey with awkward connections. It is less useful when the destination is close and most of the trip would be spent reaching a pickup point.

Walk between nearby addresses when your footwear, luggage and weather allow it.
Use the metro when the stations suit both ends of the journey and you can carry everything comfortably.
Consider rail from Malpensa if you are travelling light and your hotel is convenient for the arrival station.
Book a driver when door-to-door transport removes a difficult connection or keeps a group together.

For a solo traveller, rail will generally cost less than a private airport car. Compare the complete journey, including the final connection to your accommodation, rather than just the airport leg.

Budget the Malpensa arrival separately

Agree a precise pickup point and keep a contact number accessible. If an appointment runs late or the next address changes, communicate the update before the original pickup time. Having a driver does not guarantee access directly outside the entrance or a fixed journey time through traffic.

Keep arrival and departure rules visible
